Experience the magic of Mykines at sunset, long after the last day-trippers have returned to the mainland. This exclusive overnight experience allows you to enjoy the island’s peaceful atmosphere, dramatic cliffs, and world-famous birdlife in complete tranquility.
Mykines is often called the bird paradise of the Faroe Islands, and for good reason. During summer, thousands of seabirds — including puffins — nest along its rugged cliffs. Staying overnight gives you time to truly slow down and experience the island beyond the typical visit.
Your journey begins at Sørvágur harbour, where you board the ferry Jósup at 17:30 for a scenic crossing to Mykines.
Sørvágur Harbour (ferry departure)
The ferry ticket is included in the experience, both outbound and return the next morning at 10:15.
Upon arrival, your local guide welcomes you and introduces you to the island’s history, nature, and traditions. As the evening light softens over the Atlantic, you’ll experience Mykines in its most peaceful state.
A homemade Faroese fish soup with fresh bread is served, followed by coffee or tea and homemade cake. This is traditional Faroese hospitality at its finest — simple, warm, and rooted in local ingredients.
As the sun begins to set, the island transforms. The cliffs glow in golden light, seabirds circle overhead, and the atmosphere becomes quiet and almost surreal.
You’ll stay overnight in Apartment Mykineslon, offering a comfortable and cozy base on the island. Staying overnight allows you to experience Mykines without the crowds and wake up to the peaceful sound of the ocean.
Breakfast is included before your departure the next morning.
This tour includes the mandatory Sustainability Tax, helping preserve Mykines’ fragile environment and bird habitats. Responsible tourism is essential on the island, and this experience supports local efforts to protect its unique ecosystem.
