As we climb into the mountains, we’ll stop at Norðadalsskarð, weather permitting, to enjoy spectacular views across the fjord and surrounding peaks. This short stop provides a perfect introduction to the dramatic landscapes that define the Faroe Islands.

From there, we continue through the Faroe Islands’ first subsea tunnel toward Vágar Island.

Gásadalur and Múlafossur Waterfall

Our first destination is the beautiful village of Gásadalur, home to one of the most photographed landmarks in the Faroe Islands.

Here you’ll experience the stunning Múlafossur Waterfall, where a river plunges directly from the cliffs into the Atlantic Ocean below. The combination of the waterfall, ocean, and surrounding mountains creates one of the most spectacular views in the country.

If you’d like to learn more about this famous landmark, you can explore our guide to
Múlafossur Waterfall.

Your guide will also share stories about the village’s fascinating history and how residents once crossed the mountains on foot before the tunnel opened in 2006.

Trælanípan and the Lake Above the Ocean

After exploring Gásadalur, we continue to one of the most famous hiking destinations in the Faroe Islands.

The hike follows the shores of Leitisvatn, the largest lake in the Faroe Islands, before reaching the spectacular viewpoint at Trælanípan, also known as the Slave Cliff.

The optical illusion here has made the location world-famous. From the viewpoint, the lake appears to float high above the ocean, creating one of the most remarkable sights in the Faroe Islands.

Learn more about this incredible attraction in our guide to
Trælanípan and the Lake Above the Ocean.

Bøsdalafossur and Geituskoradrangur

The hike continues toward Bøsdalafossur, where the water from Leitisvatn flows directly into the North Atlantic Ocean.

This powerful waterfall drops approximately 30 meters into the sea and is one of the most impressive natural features on Vágar.

Nearby, you’ll also see Geituskoradrangur, a dramatic sea stack standing alone in the ocean below the cliffs.

On clear days, the views stretch across multiple southern islands, creating a panorama few visitors forget.

Faroese Nature, History, and Folklore

Throughout the day, your guide shares local stories, Viking legends, and fascinating insights into the people who have lived on Vágar for generations.

The combination of natural beauty, history, and folklore makes this one of the most complete island experiences available in the Faroe Islands.

After the hike, we return comfortably to Tórshavn, arriving at approximately 15:00.
