Join the Mykines boat tour Faroe Islands and explore the island famous for its puffins, steep cliffs, and peaceful village. This tour includes a certified local guide who ensures safety, protects the environment, and gives you an authentic experience in one of the most beautiful places in the Faroe Islands.
Your trip starts at Sørvágur Harbour, where you board a comfortable sightseeing boat for a scenic 45-minute journey across Sørvágsfjørður. As the boat sails west toward Mykines, you pass Tindhólmur and Drangarnir — two of the most photographed landmarks in the Faroe Islands. The ride offers wide views, fresh ocean air, and excellent chances to see seabirds along the cliffs.
When you arrive in Mykines, a local guide greets the group and leads the hike toward the puffin area on the island’s western side. The trail reveals open ocean views and grassy hills filled with birdlife. During summer, thousands of puffins nest in the cliffs. With the guide’s help, you can get close to these birds while still protecting their fragile habitat.
The guide also explains how locals work to balance tourism and conservation. You’ll have time to enjoy the views, take photos, and observe puffins in their natural surroundings.
Please note that the path to the Mykines lighthouse remains closed for safety and environmental reasons. Instead, the tour focuses on the village, nearby hills, and puffin area — a route that still captures the island’s wild beauty.
After exploring the puffin cliffs, the group walks back to the village. Here you can relax and take in the quiet island atmosphere before boarding the boat back to Sørvágur. The full experience, including travel time, lasts about five to six hours depending on weather conditions.
This trip is perfect for anyone who loves nature, wildlife, and remote island landscapes. It combines the excitement of a boat journey with the calm of walking through untouched Faroese scenery.
