Experience one of the most unique adventures in the Faroe Islands — a live concert inside the enormous sea cave Klæmintsgjógv.
This unforgettable evening combines spectacular coastal scenery, an adventurous RIB boat journey, and live music performed deep inside a natural basalt chamber shaped by the North Atlantic.
It is far more than a traditional sightseeing trip. Concerto Grotto brings together Faroese nature, music, and atmosphere to create an experience unlike almost anything else you can do in the Faroe Islands.
The experience begins with pickup in Tórshavn at approximately 17:45 before traveling to the departure point for the boat tour.
Pickup in Tórshavn. Please provide your pickup information when booking.
From here, you’ll board the RIB boat and head towards the dramatic coastline surrounding Hestur.
The journey takes you beneath towering sea cliffs where seabirds nest during the summer months. The rugged coastline, exposed rock formations, and open Atlantic provide a spectacular introduction to the experience before continuing towards Klæmintsgjógv.
The highlight of the journey is Klæmintsgjógv, an enormous sea cave hidden within the cliffs of Hestur.
The cave has a volume of approximately 278,000 cubic metres and was recognized in 2024 as the world’s largest sea cave by volume.
Over millions of years, the North Atlantic has carved enormous chambers and passages into the basalt cliffs, creating an extraordinary natural environment.
As the boat enters the cave, the atmosphere changes completely. Towering rock walls surround you while the sounds of the ocean echo through the enormous chamber.
Once inside Klæmintsgjógv, the boat engines are switched off and the cave becomes a natural concert hall.
A live musician performs inside the cave for approximately 15–20 minutes, allowing the sound of the music to travel through the vast basalt chamber.
The unique acoustics create extraordinary echoes and reverberations, combining the performance with the natural sounds of the ocean and cave.
With the boat floating beneath enormous rock walls and live music filling the chamber, the experience creates a remarkable connection between Faroese nature and music.
The concert is only one part of the experience.
During the boat journey, you’ll explore the dramatic coastline and bird cliffs surrounding Hestur, passing steep basalt formations, sea caves, and exposed Atlantic scenery.
Your experienced crew and guide will share information about the area while navigating through one of the most spectacular marine landscapes in the Faroe Islands.
During the summer months, the cliffs are also home to numerous seabirds, adding another dimension to the experience.
Sea conditions in the Faroe Islands can change quickly, and safety always determines the route.
If conditions around the western side of Hestur and Klæmintsgjógv are unsuitable, the itinerary may be changed. In some conditions, the experience may instead explore sea caves and cliffs along the eastern side of Nólsoy.
This flexibility allows the crew to provide the best possible experience while prioritizing safety.
The Concerto Grotto departure requires a minimum of 8 tickets sold across all bookings in order to operate.
You do not need to book eight people yourself. Individuals, couples, and smaller groups are welcome to book.
If the minimum number of tickets required for the departure is not reached, you will be informed and alternative arrangements or options will be provided.
Even when conditions are good, traveling by open boat can feel significantly colder than being on land. Warm layers and waterproof outerwear are strongly recommended.
The Concerto Grotto small-group tour operates on Wednesdays and Sundays during the 2027 season.
The 2027 small-group programme runs from 24 May to 5 September.
As the experience takes place at sea, individual departures remain subject to suitable weather and sea conditions.
