Private Sea Cave Concert – Concerto Grotto

Combine dramatic Faroese nature with live music on one of the most unusual private experiences in the Faroe Islands.

The Private Concerto Grotto takes you by private RIB boat along the spectacular west coast of Hestur before entering Klæmintsgjógv, an enormous sea cave hidden beneath the island’s towering cliffs.

Once inside, the engine falls silent.

Then the concert begins.

A live solo performance fills the enormous natural chamber, while the sound echoes from the surrounding basalt walls.

With your own private boat, captain and dedicated guide, this is an intimate way to experience one of the most extraordinary natural settings in the Faroe Islands.

Your Private Journey Begins in Tórshavn

Pickup is arranged from Tórshavn at a time agreed for your private booking.

Meeting Point

Pickup in Tórshavn.

Because this is a private experience, the pickup time is flexible and can be arranged according to availability and conditions.

From Tórshavn, you’ll travel to Gamlarætt ferry port, where your private RIB boat and captain will be waiting.

After getting ready for the journey, you’ll head onto the water towards Hestur.

The Sea Cliffs of Hestur

The adventure begins along the dramatic western coastline of Hestur.

Facing directly towards the North Atlantic, this side of the island is characterised by enormous cliffs, exposed rock formations and rich seabird habitats.

Your RIB boat allows you to experience this coastline from a perspective that simply isn’t possible from land.

As you travel beneath the cliffs, you’ll have time to take in the scenery and watch seabirds soaring around the towering rock faces.

From here, the journey continues towards the main attraction: Klæmintsgjógv.

Klæmintsgjógv – An Enormous Sea Cave

Hidden within the cliffs of Hestur is Klæmintsgjógv, an extraordinary natural sea cave shaped by volcanic geology and the relentless force of the North Atlantic.

The cave has a measured volume of approximately 278,000 cubic metres, creating an immense natural chamber beneath the island.

Travelling inside by RIB gives you a remarkable sense of the cave’s scale.

As you move deeper inside, daylight begins to disappear and the towering basalt walls surround the boat.

Then everything becomes quiet.

A Live Concert Inside the Cave

This is where Concerto Grotto becomes much more than a sightseeing boat trip.

Inside the darkness of Klæmintsgjógv, a musician begins a private live performance.

Typically performed using a trumpet or saxophone, the music interacts with the extraordinary natural acoustics of the cave.

Sound can echo for up to approximately 12 seconds, allowing each note to travel through the enormous chamber before gradually disappearing into the darkness.

The musicians performing here are experienced with the unusual environment and its acoustics.

With only your private group aboard the boat, the combination of music, darkness, ocean and basalt creates an intimate experience unlike a conventional concert venue.

Your Own Private RIB Boat

Unlike the small-group Concerto Grotto experience, this version gives your group its own private RIB boat.

One boat accommodates up to 10 passengers.

The price is therefore charged per boat rather than per person.

Whether you’re travelling as a couple, family or group of friends, the boat remains exclusively for your booking.

This also makes the experience particularly suitable for special occasions and private celebrations.

An Experience Shaped by the Atlantic

Conditions around Hestur can change quickly, and the exact route always depends on the weather and sea.

Safety therefore determines which caves and sections of coastline can be visited.

If weather conditions make the planned journey around Hestur unsuitable, the experience may instead be altered to explore caves and sea cliffs on the eastern side of Nólsoy.

The precise route can therefore vary, but the aim remains to provide a memorable private combination of Faroese coastal scenery and music.

Availability

Because the experience takes place at sea and inside a natural sea cave, weather and ocean conditions can affect the route.

Good to Know

This is the private version of the Concerto Grotto experience. Your group has its own RIB boat rather than joining the scheduled small-group departure.

The experience is suitable for 1–10 guests per boat, and pricing is fixed per boat.

The planned route follows the west coast of Hestur to Klæmintsgjógv. However, weather and sea conditions always determine the final route.

If conditions around Hestur are unsuitable, the experience may be altered to visit caves and sea cliffs on the eastern side of Nólsoy instead.

As this is an outdoor experience at sea, wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed.
