Our first destination is the idyllic village of Saksun, one of the most scenic locations in the Faroe Islands. Surrounded by steep mountains and overlooking a beautiful tidal lagoon, Saksun feels untouched by time.
With a private guide, you’ll have the freedom to spend extra time exploring the village, taking photographs, or simply enjoying the peaceful surroundings.
From Saksun, we continue to the remote village of Tjørnuvík.
Known for its black sand beach and dramatic setting between towering mountains, Tjørnuvík is one of the most memorable villages in the Faroe Islands. From the shoreline, you’ll enjoy stunning views of the legendary sea stacks known as Risin and Kellingin (The Giant and the Witch).
According to Faroese folklore, these towering rocks were once giants attempting to pull the Faroe Islands closer to Iceland.
Learn more about the area in our guide to Tjørnuvík.
The journey continues to Fossá, the highest waterfall in the Faroe Islands.
The waterfall cascades down multiple levels before flowing toward the ocean, creating one of the country’s most impressive natural sights.
As we continue north, we pass near Slættaratindur, the highest mountain in the Faroe Islands. For guests interested in hiking, it is possible to arrange an optional hike to Slættaratindur or another trail. Please contact us for details before booking.
The final major stop of the day is the charming village of Gjógv.
Named after its spectacular sea-filled gorge, Gjógv is widely considered one of the most beautiful villages in the Faroe Islands. Here you’ll enjoy lunch while taking in the peaceful atmosphere and dramatic scenery.
After lunch, you’ll have time to explore the village, walk along the gorge, or visit one of the nearby viewpoints overlooking the ocean.
If you’d like to learn more before your visit, explore our guide to Gjógv.
One of the benefits of a private tour is the ability to make spontaneous stops along the way.
Depending on weather and conditions, your guide may stop at additional viewpoints overlooking the mountains, fjords, and winding roads of Eysturoy and Streymoy. These lesser-known locations often become some of the highlights of the day.
Before returning to Tórshavn, we’ll enjoy panoramic views above Funningur, one of the most scenic mountain landscapes in the Faroe Islands.
This tour offers a relaxed and flexible way to experience some of the Faroe Islands’ most iconic locations.
Without the constraints of a larger group, you’ll have more opportunities for photography, questions, and meaningful conversations with your guide. The day can be adapted to your interests while still covering the highlights that make this one of the most popular tours in the Faroe Islands.
Weather conditions may affect the order of stops and available viewpoints. Your guide will adjust the itinerary to provide the best possible experience on the day.
