Private Sunset Drangarnir Boat & Hike

Experience one of the Faroe Islands’ most iconic landscapes in a completely different atmosphere on this Private Sunset Drangarnir Boat & Hike. Combining a private boat journey with a scenic hike, this evening adventure takes you to the famous Drangarnir sea stacks when the landscape is often quieter and the light begins to soften over the North Atlantic.

With the experience reserved exclusively for your group, you can enjoy Drangarnir at a relaxed pace without sharing the tour with other guests. It is an excellent choice for couples, families, photographers, or anyone looking for a more personal Faroese adventure.

Begin Your Evening in Sørvágur

The experience starts at Sørvágur Harbour on Vágar Island, where you meet your local skipper and guide.

Meeting Point

Sørvágur Harbour, Vágar

After a short safety briefing, you board the boat and head out through Sørvágsfjørður.

The short boat journey gives you beautiful views across the surrounding coastline and toward Tindhólmur. As evening approaches, the changing light can transform the cliffs, ocean, and mountains into an entirely different landscape.

Hike Towards Drangarnir

After arriving at the starting point, you continue on foot toward Drangarnir.

The hike takes you across open grassy terrain with spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean, Tindhólmur, and the surrounding cliffs. Because this is a private experience, the pace can be adjusted to suit your group.

Your guide is there primarily to keep the group safe and ensure everyone follows the local rules and permitted route. You are therefore free to enjoy the landscape without constant commentary.

As you approach the viewpoint, the famous shape of Drangarnir gradually comes into view.

Drangarnir in the Evening Light

Standing opposite the towering Drangarnir sea stacks is impressive at any time of day. However, the evening atmosphere makes this experience particularly special.

Depending on the season and weather, soft evening light can illuminate the cliffs while the Atlantic stretches into the horizon behind them. With fewer visitors around, there is also more opportunity to simply sit, take photographs, and enjoy the surroundings.

You can learn more about the history, landscape, and geology of the area in our guide to Drangarnir.

After enjoying the viewpoint, you hike back toward the boat for the return journey to Sørvágur.

A Private Experience at Your Own Pace

The main advantage of this tour is privacy.

There is no larger group to follow, which means the experience can feel much more relaxed. You can spend extra time taking photographs, enjoy quiet moments overlooking the sea, or simply move through the hike at a comfortable pace.

The evening departure also offers a different perspective on one of Vágar’s most famous attractions.
