Discover one of the most iconic landscapes in the Faroe Islands on this full-day Kallur Lighthouse Tour to Kalsoy.
Known for its dramatic mountains, narrow tunnels, remote villages, and breathtaking Atlantic views, Kalsoy is one of the most memorable islands to explore in the Farces. The highlight of the day is a guided hike from Trøllanes to the famous Kallur Lighthouse, where a small red-and-white lighthouse stands surrounded by towering green cliffs.
However, Kallur is only part of the experience. During the day, you’ll also travel through Klaksvík, cross to Kalsoy by ferry, explore the island’s remarkable landscape and visit the Seal Woman statue in Mikladalur.

Your adventure begins with pickup from 08:15 in Tórshavn.
Pickup from your accommodation. Please provide your pickup location when booking.
Please note that the pickup process can take up to 25 minutes. Depending on the locations of the guests joining the tour, your guide may therefore arrive after the initial pickup time.
From Tórshavn, the journey heads north towards Klaksvík through the impressive Eysturoy subsea tunnel, which features the world’s first subsea roundabout.
The drive continues through spectacular fjords and mountain scenery before reaching Klaksvík, the second-largest town in the Faroe Islands and the gateway to the Northern Islands.
From Klaksvík, you’ll board the ferry for the approximately 20-minute crossing to Kalsoy.
Even the journey across the water is part of the experience. As the ferry leaves Klaksvík, the surrounding mountains and islands create an impressive introduction to the landscapes of the Northern Islands.
Once on Kalsoy, the journey continues north through the island’s narrow road tunnels and small villages towards Trøllanes, the northernmost village on the island.
From Trøllanes, it’s time to begin the highlight of the day: the hike to Kallur Lighthouse.
The trail crosses the characteristic green landscape of northern Kalsoy, passing grazing sheep and wild birdlife before reaching the lighthouse near the northern tip of the island.
The hike is not technically difficult, although participants should have some basic hiking experience and be comfortable walking across uneven and potentially slippery terrain.
Eventually, the small red-and-white lighthouse appears against a spectacular backdrop of steep mountains, cliffs, and open Atlantic Ocean.
It is this landscape that has made Kallur one of the most photographed and recognizable locations in the Faroe Islands.
Reaching Kallur is about much more than simply seeing the lighthouse.
On clear days, the surrounding landscape opens towards several of the Northern Islands. In the distance, you may also see Risin og Kellingin – the Giant and the Witch, the famous sea stacks connected to one of the best-known legends in Faroese folklore.
In the opposite direction lies Cape Enniberg, the northernmost point of the Faroe Islands, rising dramatically above the North Atlantic.
You’ll have time to enjoy the landscape and take in the views before beginning the return hike towards Trøllanes.
Guests who are unable or do not wish to complete the Kallur hike are welcome to spend time exploring the village of Trøllanes instead.
Kalsoy gained international attention as one of the filming locations for the James Bond movie No Time to Die.
Its steep mountains and dramatic Atlantic coastline provided the setting for scenes in the film, and the connection has since earned Kalsoy the nickname “James Bond Island.”
Today, visitors can even find a locally created James Bond gravestone near the Kallur area.
However, Kalsoy’s history and appeal go far beyond its appearance on the big screen. The island has long been known in the Faroe Islands for its remote communities, dramatic landscape, legends, and distinctive geography.
After returning from Kallur, the journey continues south to Mikladalur, meaning “Great Valley.”
Here you’ll visit the famous statue of Kópakonan – the Seal Woman.
The statue stands beside the Atlantic Ocean and represents one of the best-known legends in Faroese folklore. Your guide will tell you the story behind Kópakonan and explain why the legend remains closely connected to Mikladalur and Kalsoy.
Depending on the day’s schedule, there may also be an opportunity to stop at the local café.
After exploring Mikladalur, you’ll continue back towards the ferry and cross from Kalsoy to Klaksvík.
From there, the journey returns through the Northern Islands and Eysturoy towards Tórshavn.
After a full day exploring one of the most distinctive islands in the Farces, you’ll be dropped off again in Tórshavn.
Lunch is not included on the 2027 small-group tour.
You are welcome to bring your own food, and there may be opportunities to purchase something to eat during stops along the journey.
Fruit and bottled water are provided during the tour.
Because this is a full-day experience lasting approximately 8–9 hours, we recommend bringing additional food or snacks with you.
The weather on Kalsoy can change quickly. Therefore, waterproof outerwear and suitable footwear are strongly recommended, even when conditions look good at the beginning of the day.
The Kallur hiking fee and necessary transportation during the tour are included in the price.
The Kallur Lighthouse Tour operates on Fridays during the 2027 small-group season.
The 2027 small-group programme runs from 24 May to 5 September 2027. As the tour operates on Fridays, scheduled Kallur departures run from 28 May to 3 September 2027.
The hike to Kallur Lighthouse requires basic hiking experience. Although the route is not technically difficult, wet grass, wind, fog, and changing Faroese weather can make conditions more challenging.
Guests who are unable or do not wish to complete the hike can instead explore the village of Trøllanes while the rest of the group visits Kallur.
The itinerary and timing may change depending on weather, ferry schedules, local conditions, and safety considerations.
Pickup can take up to 25 minutes depending on the locations of guests joining the tour, so please do not worry if your guide does not arrive immediately at the beginning of the pickup window.
